This is a good article my friend Brian sent me.  I think it could be okay, if the government had to follow certain rules.  They should have to get a warrant or at least permission from a judge that the person was a probable suspect.  The government should be prohibited from surveillance whenever the car goes on private property.  They shouldn’t be allowed to capture any audio or video with the device, and they shouldn’t be allowed to enter the car to install the device.  But, I think if they do these things, this technology is probably ok.  There is a place for it in good law enforcement.

I don’t agree that there is no expectation of privacy in public, but I agree that there is a rather small
expectation of privacy in public.
