Unfortunately, I probably have to be more specific in this age of government.  “It’s a shame to let accountants spoil the charming romance of war …” is the snappy intro to a sharp article by Steve Chapman about the costs and failure of our Middle East wars.  It would have been nice if the article had walked us through the strategic and operational failures, but maybe the failure is common sense after this long without success on the tips of our tongues.

It makes a great point about the huge and unfinished costs of these wars. I’m going to start reading this guy.
